The Sun is coming out! As Luke Jerram’s stunning illuminated artwork, Helios, takes over Grimsby Minster from the 9 April to 4 May, we’re excited to reveal the official Our Future Starts Here Music Programme – two live music events shining a light on the best emerging talent coming out of Grimsby right now.
Grimsby has always had the talent, but now it has a stage to match.
On Saturday 11 April, we’ll present ‘Music Generation’, an unforgettable night of live music showcasing the very best young acts being nurtured by our town’s thriving music scene. Set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Helios, audiences can look forward to a night defined by a welcoming and supportive atmosphere in a truly unique setting.
And the best part of the evening? There’s something for everyone. Rothko will bring their experimental jazz and funk fusions, while Foolish Resolutions will offer something more acoustic and intimate. Elsewhere on the lineup, eccentric singer-songwriter Grungy Bill will deliver their post-punk sound laced with dry humour and philosophical lyricism, alongside DAZED who will bring their infectiously brilliant tunes to the Minster stage, and The Shortround – fresh from a sell-out show at Wilton Fields – will round off an unforgettable night with an exciting mix of indie classics and standout originals.
It’s a rare chance to support local talent in a genuinely special and historical setting.
On Tuesday 21 April, The Culture House is proud to be teaming up with Shop Local, a brilliant grassroots music festival launched in 2025 and returning with a major two-day event in August 2026. With the glow of Helios forming a beautiful backdrop, Shop Local presents an intimate preview of some of the talent coming to their stages in August. Stripped-back performances from Brad Arliss, Jazz Beeson, and Sandra’s Wedding will be accompanied by a Q&A with the artists themselves, a rare chance to get up close with some of the region’s most exciting emerging musicians in a setting quite unlike anything else.
Best of all, tickets for both events are just £5, a genuine bargain for a night of live music in one of the most spectacular settings in the region. Whether you’re a longtime supporter of the local scene or just curious to see what Grimsby’s emerging talent has to offer, these are two evenings not to be missed.
Tickets are available here.
