Our August programme of weekly music events is back!

Tickets: No booking necessary – just show up with your picnic!
Each Sunday, the historic bandstand comes alive with fantastic live music from a mix of local artists, emerging performers and touring bands.
Alongside the music, there’s plenty to explore: family-friendly activities, nature-based learning sessions, community litter picks, and of course, the legendary ice cream van.
Whether you’re bringing children, meeting friends or bringing your granny along, there’s something for everyone.
Growing in popularity every year, these free community events have become a true summer tradition for families across North East Lincolnshire. Set in the beautiful surroundings of People’s Park, Grimsby, everyone is welcome to bring a picnic, relax on the grass and enjoy an afternoon packed with entertainment, creativity and community spirit.
Thanks to the generous support of Scops Arts Trust, Create NEL and Ørsted, and our fantastic local business sponsors, these events are completely free for everyone in the community to attend.

Bring your Teddy bear along to enjoy a day of live music with the added ‘Collection Day’ theatre show from Rhubarb Theatre, vocalist Chloey Rose and the amazing All for One Choir, and a dance performance from local dance group Simply Dance. Additional nature activities from Lincolnshire Outdoor Learning.

Come dressed in your bestest for a Posh Picnic with Roxanne Stocks and Cleethorpes Brass Band, also joined by Team BeeGee and The Aristocrats.

Bank Holiday Special
This special closing event will see us partner with Freedom Festival Hull to bring four international outdoor arts companies to People’s Park with live percussion in the bandstand from local resident Adel
Also featuring The Family Game Show – a fun-filled, nature themed interactive game show from the wonderful Shenanigans Street Theatre.
And from Freedom Festival on Tour we have:
Lilliput: A playful, interactive journey through classic fairy tales where stories are not told, they are played.
Otempodiz: A contemporary dance piece about the power that dance gives us to experience time in the absolute present.
SENESCENCE: a solo circus performance in which a single performer and a large-scale rotating steel installation form a living system, exploring the tension between physical mastery and bodily decline.
The World Wanderer: Walking on a globe, a traveling adventure unfolds. You’ll be taken along in surprising ways to special places on Earth. Around the world in 80 days? This journey of discovery takes place in 30 minutes.

We’re committed to making Picnic in the Park welcoming and accessible for everyone. Here’s the key information to help you plan your visit.
Toilets
• Accessible portable toilets are located behind the bandstand.
• Accessible toilets are also available at the café (for café customers).
• The nearest Changing Places toilet is at Grimsby Leisure Centre, Cromwell Road, Grimsby DN31 2BH
Quiet & Sensory Support
• Quiet Tent with free ear defenders, seating and some sensory toys available on site at People’s Park
• Target NEL will provide a quieter indoor sensory space and activities within the former Floral Hall community building on finale picnic on 31 August from 11-4pm.
Accessible Parking
• Blue Badge parking is available behind the bandstand via the west entrance (off Park Drive)
• Additional parking is available on surrounding streets and nearby town center car parks. (Duchess Street, Grimsby DN32 0RH is approximately 15 minutes walk away)
Seating & Viewing
• Reserved front bench for visitors with access needs.
• Level tarmac around the bandstand provides wheelchair viewing.
• Nine park benches are available and visitors are welcome to bring chairs or picnic blankets.
Paths & Terrain
• Tarmac paths are suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
• Mostly level site with some gentle slopes.
• Viewing area is on grass which may become soft after wet weather.
