Picnic In

The Park

Part of our long running summer programme, Picnic in the Park takes place on Sunday afternoons in August, within the beautiful surroundings of People's Park - a Victorian park in central Grimsby.

This free programme brings the under-used bandstand to life with national, regional and local live music, inviting residents and visitors to come along, relax, bring a picnic and enjoy. The programme celebrates local talent, hosting young musicians including youth bands and choirs and enables residents to experience new and familiar sounds across world music, jazz, classical, indie and more.

Sundays in August 2024

Come along, bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy some relaxed time with family and friends. As always, we will have an ice cream van and the cafe at People’s Park will be serving drinks and snacks throughout the day. This year we will also be presenting FREE nature based activities from Lincolnshire Outdoor Learning and Nurture Nature.

With special thanks to the funders of this year’s programme:
Harrisons Ice Creams, Ramsdens International, Orsted and Arts Council England.

4 August 1pm-4pm

Steel Standing Steel Pans & Humber Taiko

Come along and enjoy local talent as they master both familiar and unique sounds on international instruments.

Tom Harris Quintet

Tom Harris is a pianist from Manchester who explores a range of themes such as acceptance and joy, all filtered through the sound of favoured great artists, including Nina Simone. Tom’s latest offering takes inspiration from Buddleia – a vibrant purple shrub which thrives in ‘ugly’ places. It’s tough, beautiful, and a reminder that some version of life will always persevere…

18 August 1pm-4pm

The Mardy Johnny Depps

Who doesn’t love a bit of the Mardys – classic popular sounds exceptionally delivered.

Skip of Fools

Another local offering playing soulful jazzy music perfect for a Summer’s day! (Let’s hope it’s not raining eh?)
